Figs are only 59p for 4 in Aldi this week! I was so excited that I bought two packs with very little idea of what I would do with them! I first made this recipe a few years ago when my lovely friend Helen brought round a beautiful bowl of figs as a moving in present.
If you have only tried those dried figs you get at Christmas, (not a fan) give fresh figs a go. They are a completely different experience. This recipe is perfect as a starter or a weekend treat – or as I had them -which was throughout the day on a Tuesday! I ate 6. That’s a lie, I ate 7. (8 *hangs head in shame*) I have not even told my children I made these. They were long gone by the time they got back from school!
I will definitely be cooking with figs again, they make a really nice change. If you want some more figgy inspiration, why not try:
- Fig & Prosciutto Salad (You could add prosciutto to this recipe for a more substantial lunch)
- Fig Chutney (make now to eat at Christmas!)
- Fig Tart (Layer puff pastry with figs, honey and a little cinnamon before baking)
Don’t forget to add any pictures of any of the Aldi Lover’s recipes that you make to my Instagram (@aldiloversguidetocooking) or my Facebook page (The Aldi Lover’s Guide to Cooking)
